IMF

The IMF (Independent Musicians Fund) is a project of It Takes A Village To Make Records to assist unsigned, independent musicians with small expenses that interrupt the flow of creativity.  The IMF is funded every time someone purchases a volume of the 3-Way Singles Club or the 3-Way Singles Club Mega-Subscription (see the right hand sidebar on this page).

The IMF also maintains a lending library of literature about recording, mixing, mastering, music business, and being a green musician.  Additionally, the IMF offers free consultation to help musicians find professional services like recording studios and engineers, mastering engineers, pressing plants, live sound, or artwork services.

The IMF is a small fund, but a completely transparent one.  We started fundraising bit-by-bit in June of 2011, completely from song downloads and subscriptions.  Each month, we'll update this page to reflect the fund's current monetary holdings.  The IMF is not a non-profit; instead it's an old-fashioned altruistic effort based on a model of generosity and mutual regard.

The IMF and It Takes A Village To Make Records maintain a shared office within Signs & Portents gallery, which allows us to operate with virtually no overhead expense.

As of April 3, 2013 the IMF holds $233.30

The Fine Print:
Funds are distributed either as 0% interest loans for one-time small amounts (i.e. inexpensive repairs or equipment purchases, postage for tour flyers, etc.) or as grants for special circumstances.  The IMF accepts applications for funds every time the amount within the fund exceeds $100.  You cannot apply for more funds than the IMF holds, and it is our expectation that funds loaned will be repayed in full within 365 days.  Applications are reviewed by an independent panel.  If you would like to apply to the fund, donate directly to the fund, or submit previously unreleased songs to the 3-Way Singles Club (which directly benefits the fund), please contact us here.
